Four people escaped a house fire Thursday afternoon in Swancreek Township.
A spokesperson for the Providence Township Fire and Rescue Department said a crew was dispatched to the blaze in the 3000 block of County Road 1 at 3:59 p.m. It began in an attached garage and spread to about one fourth of the residence. The remainder received widespread smoke damage.
A family of four, whose name was not released, left the home without injury. The family’s dog also escaped unharmed.
Damage to the dwelling has not been estimated. A representative from the state fire marshal’s office visited the site Friday, although the fire doesn’t appear suspicious in nature. No cause has been determined.
Fire crews from Swanton, Delta, Whitehouse, and Liberty Center assisted at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
