They’ve got the beat


The percussion section of the Wauseon High School Marching Indians was awarded first place in class Saturday at the Northcoast Band Contest held at Perkins High School in Sandusky. The 65-member band performed “The World is What We Make It” - Look for the Helpers, Light a Candle, Be the Change under the leadership of Director Don Clark, Assistant Director Jaz Bluhm, percussionist Mark Cook, and field commander Amber Wolpert. Soloist included Mackayla Kearney, guard; Katelyn Shadboldt, trumpet; Levi Waldron, mellophone; and Lucas Schang, baritone. The Marching Indians will be in action Oct. 20, 8 p.m., at the Bulldog Bowl in Swanton.
