Barbershop singing coming to Sauder Village

Staff report

The four-part harmony of barbershop music will fill Sauder Village in Archbold on Saturday, Aug. 25, for the annual Barbershop Sing featuring The Alliance Chorus of central Ohio.

The Sauder Village Barbershop Sing always features an award-winning barbershop group, and this year is no exception. The Alliance Chorus is a men’s barbershop chorus formed in 1999 for the singing of four-part barbershop harmony by men who shared a vision to focus their time, efforts, and energy on singing and performing at the highest possible level. Members of the chorus span an age range of nine decades; and, while most live in the central Ohio area, many travel from Cincinnati, Dayton, Akron, and Cleveland, as well as from Pennsylvania, Michigan, and West Virginia to prepare and perform with the ensemble.

Aside from a common love of four-part harmony, the men of The Alliance are a diverse group comprised of students, corporate executives, construction equipment operators, doctors, and other callings. The range of ages, occupations, and experience creates a distinctive brotherhood rooted in harmony. For more information about Alliance Chorus visit alliancechorus.org.

“Hosting a late-summer barbershop music concert has been a tradition at Sauder Village for many years,” said Kim Krieger, public relations.

The concert is included with admission to Sauder Village and all Village members are free.

Other upcoming Sauder Village events in September include the new Monarchs and More Family Fun Day, Home School Appreciation Days, Celebrate our Artisans, Apple Week, Vintage Base Ball Tournament, and Fiber Arts Fest.
