SWANTON – Swanton American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit #479 won national, State of Ohio and First District of Ohio awards. These are prestigious awards knowing that the 1st District of Ohio is the largest district in the state with 57 auxiliary units and there are over 410 auxiliary units total in Ohio.
The unit won one of five Public Relations- Unit Program Emphasis Awards. The award is for creation of the best three media releases in the Central United States.
State of Ohio Plaques: Children & Youth – “Miriam Junge Award,” Community Service – “Anna Mae Beckley Award,” Public Relations – “Nancy Sallot Award,” State of Ohio Unit Certificate Awards: Best Newsletter, 1st Place Americanism, History Narrative, 3rd Place Poppy and 1st Place UD & R.
First District Ohio Awards: 1st – Americanism, 1st – Children & Youth, 1st – Community Service, 2nd – VA & R, Membership: Hulda Stebbins Trophy & Betty Horton Trophy.
Meet and Greet
Swanton American Legion Auxiliary Unit #479 held their fourth annual Meet and Greet to open the 2015-16 season. Honored guest speakers were the State of Ohio Auxiliary President, Martha Setlock and State of Ohio Auxiliary 1st Vice President, Shirley Maurer.
