DELTA – On Sunday, Oct. 11, the Swan Creek Community Church located at 812 Main St. in Delta will host a benefit for Jonathon from noon to 3 p.m. Along with a change drive and a Chinese auction, there will be a bake sale and lunch, serving chili, hot dogs and drinks.
In 2009, a youngster in Ethiopia was adopted. Jonathon was a vibrant, walking and talkative child. Shortly after the adoption, he started to develop health issues. He was diagnosed with a form of neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses or NCL. It is an aggressive disease which impairs development and leads to a shortened life. A form of NCL can develop into Batten disease.
In Jonathon’s case, it took him from walking to becoming wheelchair bound. Recently, he has developed pneumonia. Hospice has been called and he is not doing well. The benefit is to raise money to help his family with his medical bills and quite possibly Jonathon’s final expenses.
The community is being asked to join in together and support this family in need, both financially and through prayers.
