On Tuesday, Nov. 28, choose from numerous restaurants in the area, eat in or carry out, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Habitat for Humanity of Fulton County.
The sponsor restaurants have agreed to partner with Habitat, in coordination with #GivingTuesday, to remind patrons that working together to help those in need benefits whole communities and individuals alike.
Restaurant sponsors include: Swanton – Pisanello’s Pizza, Barron’s Mexican Cantina, Tano’s Pizza, and The Wings Station; Delta – The Barn Restaurant, Delta 109 Tavern & Eatery, and Marco’s Pizza. Wauseon – Sullivan’s Restaurant, Marco’s Pizza, Healthy Spot, and Tano’s Pizza; Archbold and Napoleon – Marco’s Pizza.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving, celebrated the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It’s purpose is to kick off the charitable season of giving back. Although charitable contributions are needed, Dining for a Cause provides another way for people to give – doing good by dining out.
“Habitat makes housing affordable for people in need through donations and volunteers,” said Heidi Kern, executive director of Fulton County’s Habitat affiliate. “Without local financial support, Habitat can’t build. And if we can’t build, we can’t help people who just need a hand up to make life doable.”
Habitat for Humanity builds and repairs homes with low-income partners who work alongside volunteers to complete their projects. Each project is funded upfront through donations and grants, while the homeowners pay back their portion to Habitat through no-interest loans.
“Raising funds for our 2018 projects is crucial if we want to stay on schedule,” Kerns said. “But I know it’s God’s plan we have to follow if we’re going to succeed. We focus on helping just one more family and somehow, it seems to come together.”
Habitat hopes to build a new home in Wauseon for the Morris (Boyer) family of Swanton and finish numerous home repair projects for the Wyse family of Ridgeville Corners.
