ACT presents ‘Happy Hollandaise’

Staff report

The Archbold Community Theater will present “Happy Hollandaise,” a wild British farce by playwright Tim Koenig, in December at Giffey Hall in Ridgeville Corners.

With shades of “Arsenic and Old Lace,” the story revolves around Claire Finley, who has hired a celebrated gourmet chef to prepare her famous Hasenpfeffer Hollandaise Sauce for dinner guests. But the evening quickly unravels when the chef is late, the guests are early, burglars are prowling the neighborhood, and a head wound leaves Claire’s father delusional.

Through all of the hilarity, the true Christmas spirit emerges in a surprise ending.

Cast members include Teresa Van Sickle of Archbold as Claire; Robin Kiefer of Wauseon as Chef Vilma Hasenpfeffer; Jeff Patterson of Archbold and Lindsay Bialorucki of Ridgeville Corners as the burglars; Jeff Roth of Wauseon as Claire’s father; and Paul Spencer of Defiance as the new vicar and Angelina Sorge of Wauseon as his wife.

The show is directed by Steve Van Sickle of Archbold and assisted by Jeff Patterson.

Performances will be Dec. 1, 2, 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m.; Dec. 3 at 2:20 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling 419-267-5717 Monday through Friday from 6-9 p.m.
