Voters approve 911 levy, other levies in Fulton County

It was a successful election night for issues around Fulton County on Tuesday, according to unofficial results..

The one countywide issue, a renewal and increase for the county 911 system, passed easily, 5,734-3,308. All but two precincts (Swancreek Twp. Liberty Center, Swancreek West Two) voted in favor of the five-year, 0.7-mill renewal with a 0.3-mill increase.

Evergreen Local Schools five-year renewal and decrease for the district’s income tax was approved 1,079-940 in Fulton County. Approval would decrease the amount of the tax to 0.25 percent.

An additional five-year, 1.2-mill levy for the Archbold Library was approved 1,462-562.

Fulton Township voters voted 470-241 in favor of a five-year, 0.75-mill replacement levy for fire and rescue services. Pike Township voters a replacement levy, a five-year, 0.5-mill levy for fire protection and EMS services by a vote of 209-135.

Amboy Township’s five-year, 1 -mill levy renewal for fire and rescue services on the ballot was approved 368-119.

The Village of Lyons had two property tax renewal approved by voters. A five-year, 4.1-mill tax for current operating expenses was approved 82-41 and a five-year, 0.5-mill for parks and recreation had 84 votes for the levy and 40 against.

Chesterfield Township voters approved by a vote of 140-51 a five-year, 0.7-mill renewal for fire protection and EMS.

Fayette school district voters said yes to a five-year, 7.0-mill renewal levy for current operating expenses by a margin of 352-221.

Sunday sales of spirituous liquor at the Swanton Sports Center, 610 N. Main St. were approved by a vote of 142-54.

A German Township 2.0-mill levy for fire equipment and related fire expenses was withdrawn from the ballot before election day.

Voter turnout was 31.64 percent in Fulton County.
