On Sunday, Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m., Gerald and Marlene Kaufman will speak at Fairlawn Chapel, Archbold. The session is entitled “Necessary Conversations,” based on their book. It is sponsored by Fairlawn and Everence.
Such topics like finances, medical care, living arrangements, driving privileges, to name a few, are important areas that adult children and their aging parents need to discuss.
The Kaufmans have nearly 40 years of experience as counselors. “We encourage families to find new ways to connect with each other,” they say in their book.
Noting that many families have become more disconnected by distance or emotionally, the Kaufmans offer their experienced view points. “We believe that there are better ways to face the latter years of our lives. That’s what this conversation is all about.”
The Kaufmans will suggest ways for older adults to talk with their children about finances, medical care, living arrangements, driving privileges and other subjects. Sometimes it is better to visit in advance of critical times.
