Harold and Sue Boysel will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary with an Open House on Sunday, Jun 19, 2-5 p.m., at the Wauseon Rotary Club, 600 Wood St., in Wauseon.
Harold and Sue’s journey began in bookkeeping class, when Harold asked Sue, “Can I give you a ride home?” From dates at the drive-in theater and cruising around town to a marriage proposal under the Wauseon Christmas star on Dec. 11, 1965, then graduation, then the wedding on June 18, 1966, at Emmaus Lutheran Church, with Pastor V Moyer presiding, what a ride it has been.
Serving as bridesmaids at the wedding were Peggy Dockery and Bev Schlosser (Hausch). The flower girl was Nancy Giesige (Hausch). Tom Fuller served as best man, with Dan Hausch and Mark Donaldson as groomsmen. Wayne Boysel was an usher, and Donnie Boysel and Tim Hausch were acolytes. A reception was held in the church fellowship hall by candlelight due to a terrible thunderstorm.
Harold and Sue were blessed with three daughters, Christine (deceased), Brenda (Garry) Byers, and Teresa (Mike) Hartsock; five grandsons, Colton, Corry, Clay, Kris, and Keaton; and one granddaughter, Kaelynn. Kris, Corry and Clay are serving in the Air National Guard 180th.
Harold and Sue reside at Buckeye Estates in Wauseon.
