Archbold girls win home cross country meet

There were a bevy of local cross country teams in action last Saturday, led by Archbold’s girls who were victorious at a home invitational.

The Blue Streak girls took first with 39 points, followed by Blissfield with 51 points, Wauseon was third at 90 points, North Baltimore 121, Ida 125, Hilltop 130 and Ayersville 141.

Archbold had four runners in the top 10 as Kylie Sauder finished third with a time of 20:28.17, Dakota Stamm took seventh (20:57.12), Gwynne Riley ninth (21:28.97) and Brittney Ramirez 10th (21:30.43).

Wauseon was led by Hannah Richer who finished fourth (20:42.95) and Brooke Schuette who placed 20th (23:52.95).

In the boys meet at Archbold, Swanton placed fourth with 114 points and the home team was sixth with 142.

The Bulldogs got a sixth place finish from Brett Bettinger (18:24.16). Just outside of the top 20 for Swanton were Tyler Boyd at 21st (19:51.3) and Garrett Bradish at 22nd (19:57.91).

Leading the Streaks was Brendon Johns with a 12th place finish (19:04.25).

Wauseon’s boys garnered a 13th place finish in the Division II race at the Tiffin Carnival. They were led by Kyle Vernot who finished sixth (16:04) and Josh Lowry who placed 15th (16:41.5).

In the Division III girls race Pettisville took 17th as a team, despite not having a runner place in the top 50, while Evergreen finished 23rd.

The Vikings’ Sarah Schwan took 25th with a time of 20:05.4.
