Pettisville volleyball coach John Horning captured his 200th win as his Blackbirds defeated Hilltop 25-15, 25-17, 25-9 at home on Thursday.
Over 11 completed seasons as coach, and at the beginning of his 12th this season, Horning’s record is 200-77 with a Buckeye Border Conference mark of 102-15. Pettisville has won six BBC championships in that time, eight sectional championships and one district crown.
They have also been district runner-up on three occasions under the direction of Horning.
The veteran coach is very grateful for his time at the school.
“I have been really blessed to have coaches, players, families, school and (the) community who have supported our volleyball program,” said Horning. “We have had some really good years where girls were committed to push themselves and get better on a daily basis. I am very humbled and thankful for the opportunity and blessing to coach at Pettisville.”
In the match itself, Morgan Leppelmeier finished with 12 kills and 10 digs, while Jess Youse added 16 kills and three aces.
The Blackbirds host Ayersville today, and they are at home this Thursday when they welcome in Hicksville.
