Archbold football falls to Liberty-Benton in thriller

Archbold squandered a double digit lead as Liberty-Benton quarterback Austin May’s four-yard touchdown in the final quarter helped push them over the Blue Streaks 34-33 Friday.

May accounted for all five of the Eagles’ touchdowns. He was 14 of 23 for 230 yards and a pair of TDs through the air, but also threw three interceptions.

Archbold quarterback Gabe Petersen led the Streaks in rushing, racking up 164 yards on 24 carries and a pair of scores. While he did not throw for a score, he did complete a two-point conversion to LJ Tijerina.

Sam Petersen finished with 113 yards rushing on 21 carries to go along with three TDs.

Archbold (1-1) is at Lake this Friday.
