Swanton golf returns all-league performers

The Swanton golf team has its entire roster back and has their sights set on a successful season in 2017.

“I think we are capable of being competitive in each match and in our league,” said veteran head coach Eric Oakes.

Among the returnees for the Bulldogs are Austin Luce who was first team All-NWOAL in 2016 and Carter Swank who was second team All-NWOAL in 2016 and honorable mention in 2015.

Other returning letter winners are Randy Slink, Brady Lemons, Raymond Schad and Andrew LaPointe. David Patch and London Vorraber are newcomers to the roster.

“Top players have ability to lead team,” said Oakes on the strengths of the current group. “(We) have players with good potential.”

There will be some growing pains with this group as Oakes states that they are young and lack experience.

He expects two-time defending champion Archbold to be the favorites to win the NWOAL title.

“Archbold is (the) clear favorite, after them it is a toss up,” Oakes said.
