ARCHBOLD – The Archbold girls tennis team clipped Wauseon in county tennis action on Thursday at the Blue Streak tennis courts, 3-2.
Both squads started off even as Archbold’s Shelby Cline picked up a 6-2, 6-1 victory in first singles over Autumn Dominique of Wauseon. However, the Indians responded in second singles as Mackenzie Eberly defeated the Streaks’ Darby Stevens 6-1, 6-4.
Archbold closed out the match as both of their doubles teams earned victories. Viviana Garcia and Emily Rose defeated Wauseon’s Sarah Becker and Maddi Rice in first doubles 6-0, 6-3, while Lydia Andres and Caroline Kinsman defeated Kaitlyn Sager and Samantha Martin in second doubles 6-1, 6-0.
In the last match to finish, but not the deciding match, the Indians got a win from Paige Moden in third singles. Moden won her match over Archbold’s Sara Bilen by a final of 6-2, 7-5.
