Rain cuts Barney Oldfield Race short

Submitted

Forty-eight UMP Late Models packed the pits to compete in the 28th Annual Barney Oldfield Race that pays $5,300 to win. Unfortunately, the skies opened up shortly after the first consi event, forcing Oakshade Raceway officials to have to postpone the rest of the evenings’ events.

Make up races will take place. The date has yet to be determined and once it is determined, it will be posted at oakshaderaceway.com.

In the meantime, this coming Saturday, June 24, the American Ethanol Late Model Tour invades Oakshade Raceway along with a full program of UMP Sportsman, Bombers and Compacts. Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
