Blackbirds fall to Locomotives, rebound in Buckeye Border Conference contest

MONTPELIER – Pettisville traveled to Montpelier for the Division IV softball sectional semifinal Monday where they were bested by the Locomotives 9-5.

Pacing the Blackbird offense was Mackenzie Morgan who notched a triple and a single, and Sami Tilley who added a double and a single. Kaylea Peffley finished with a triple and a single for the Locomotives.

Montpelier’s Sarah Higbie went seven innings, allowing five runs on six hits while striking out nine to pick up the win in the circle. Kyra Behnfeldt took the loss for Pettisville.

However, the Blackbirds then hosted the Locomotives Tuesday in BBC play where they earned an 8-7 win in 10 innings.
