DEFIANCE – Due to the tiebreaking criteria, the Wauseon tennis team finished second to Ada at the Northern Buckeye Tennis League tournament Friday at the Smart Center on the campus of Defiance College. Archbold was fourth.
The tiebreaker was net sets won versus net sets lost by each team as Ada, Archbold, Bryan and Wauseon were knotted up with 9 points apiece after matches had concluded.
Both of Wauseon’s doubles teams earned first place finishes. In the first doubles final, Evan Kost and Aaron Spieles defeated Luke McQuade and Brad Diller of Archbold 6-3, 6-3. Tristan Uribes and Conner Hicks took down a pair from Bryan to win in second doubles.
For Archbold, Jereme Rupp was runner-up in first singles, Erik Short was runner-up in second singles, and Levi Strawn the same in third singles.
