5 seniors return for Archbold boys tennis team

The Archbold boys tennis team loses just one letter winner off last year’s squad as they hope to be even better in 2017. Last season they posted a 7-6 record.

“We look to be a strong competitor in all matches,” said ninth year coach James Kidder. “I expect to have a strong tournament run with several players.”

Back for the Blue Streaks are Jereme Rupp, Lucas Rupp, Michael Short, Richard Payne, Luke McQuade, Reese Knapp, Erik Short and Josh Croy. They only lose Alex Short who was a doubles competitor in 2016.

The Streaks add newcomers Devin Witte and Sonson Nafziger who are looking to contribute as well.

“(We) return lots of experience with five seniors this year,” said Kidder.

Due to the basketball team advancing to state, Archbold will begin the season Monday, April 3 at home against Sylvania Northview.
