Wauseon girls advance to state bowling tournament

Wauseon’s Summer Brown competes at the NWOAL bowling tournament earlier this month. She finished with a 608 series total this past weekend at the district tournament as the Wauseon girls qualified for state with a runner-up placement.

ROSSFORD – The Wauseon bowling team competed in the Division II district tournament held at Interstate Lanes in Rossford Friday.

The girls team will move onto the state tournament after a runner-up finish at the district. Collectively the Indians recorded a 3,622 total score.

It will be their second straight trip to state.

Leading the Indians was Summer Brown who rolled a 608 series total with a 237 being her best game. Next was Mackayla Kearney who rolled a 592 series, Jenna Simon with a 535, and Payton Lovins 512.

For the boys, Nic Kearney rolled a 641 series total to place third and advance to state. He notched a 192 in the first game, 191 in game two, and 258 in game three.

Mackayla Kearney, Brown and Nic Kearney all received all-district honors.

The state tournament kicks off with the Division II girls competition this Friday at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl. The Division II boys competition is Saturday.
