Archbold girls basketball team gets top seed in their district

Area girls basketball teams learned their seed and where they would open tournament play when the sectional draws were determined Sunday afternoon.

In the Division II Anthony Wayne District, Wauseon is the 11th seed and they will face second seeded Oak Harbor in the sectional final on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. at Bowsher.

Four county teams are represented in the Division III Lake District.

Archbold is the top seed in the district, and the Blue Streaks will face Northwood in a sectional semifinal game at Sylvania Northview Wednesday, Feb. 22 beginning at 6:15 p.m.

Swanton, who is seeded third, is also at Sylvania Northview where they will take on the winner of Eastwood and Genoa for the sectional championship Feb. 25 at 1 p.m.

Evergreen is the eighth seed and the Vikings will take on seventh seeded Liberty Center at Springfield on Monday, Feb. 20 starting at 7 p.m. Second seed Otsego will take on the winner of that contest Thursday, Feb. 23 at 6:15 p.m. in the sectional final.

The fifth seed Delta opens with Elmwood in a sectional semifinal game set for Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 6:15 p.m. at Springfield.

Pettisville is the second seed in the Division IV Archbold District. The Blackbirds will face the winner of Ayersville and Montpelier in the sectional final at Bryan on Feb. 25 at 6:15 p.m.

Fayette has a date with Hicksville in the sectional semifinal at Bryan Feb. 22 beginning at 8 p.m.
