The Wauseon girls tennis team, coming off a 6-12 campaign, will have its third coach in three years as Joy Hutchinson takes over for the Indians.

She replaces Tasha Brown who coached the Indians for one season. Hutchinson will lean on a cast of four returning letter winners to help make the transition.

Coming back for Wauseon are Autumn Dominique, Mackenzie Eberly, Paige Moden and Sarah Becker.

“The girls have positive attitudes and are working hard,” said Hutchinson of the team she is inheriting. “They show a lot of promise.”

The Indians, however, will have to replace the likes of Cassidy Barnes, Cherese Bussing and Michelle Whitmer.

With the loss of some key pieces, Hutchinson points out that a lack of depth is a concern heading into the season. Newcomers for the Indians are Kaitlyn Sager, Madi Rice, Sophia Stockham and Samantha Martin.

Wauseon, who opened the season Monday at Defiance, hosts Bryan today and Ottawa-Glandorf on Thursday.
