Swanton rebounded from a 3-1 deficit with a huge fourth inning, then had to hold off an Evergreen seventh inning rally to take a 10-7 ACME victory over the Vikings on Thursday.
Evergreen opened scoring in the top of the first when, after a pair of walks off Bulldog starter Roman Epley, Sam Lubinski ripped a two-out single to plate the first run.
The Bulldogs came back in their half of the first thanks to three base on balls given up by Viking starter David Moore and a ground ball to tie the game.
The Vikings reclaimed the lead in the second on an error, two more base on balls off Epley and a groundout. They added on in the third when Bryce Hudik doubled ,moved to third on a grondball and scored on Lubinski’s sacrifice fly.
However the Bulldogs came back big in the fourth when after another pair of walks off Moore, Epley singled. Hunter Mix delivered with a two-out RBI hit as did Zack Bloom to tie the game at 3-3.
The Bulldogs were far from finished as Josh Adcock added a two-run single off reliever Travis Mersing, an error marked another run and Derek Floyd capped the eight-run outburst with a two-run single.
Base hits from Epley, Mix and Bloom off the Vikings third pitcher, Teagen Pinkelman, made it 10-3 in the sixth.
Evergreen made it interesting in the seventh when John Milliken led off with a triple to deep left and Adam Baumgartner followed with a double to right.
A walk, and error, another walk and a wild pitch brought home two more runs before Swanton closed out the victory.
Mix had three singles to lead the Bulldog offense.
Lubinski’s two RBI led Evergreen.
