Indian boys, Blue Streak girls first after day one of NWOAL track championships

BRYAN – After day one of the NWOAL track and field championships on Tuesday, Wauseon leads the boys meet while Archbold is first in the girls meet. The Indian boys have 52.25 points to runner-up Swanton’s 27, while the Blue Streak girls have 42 to 39 from Wauseon.

In the boys meet, Wauseon’s 4×800 meter relay team won the event with a time of 8:18.56.

Winning field events in the county were Ethan Baker of Wauseon in the discus and Gunnar Oakes of Swanton in the high jump. The pole vault finals for both boys and girls were postponed to Friday due to weather conditions.

Numerous girls in the county won field events as well. Wauseon’s Kallie Strauss took home the title in the shot put, Swanton’s Julia Smith was victorious in the high jump, and Emily Roth of Archbold in the long jump.

The finals of all other running events will take place on Friday beginning at 7 p.m.
