Indians sweep Archbold tri-meet

The track and field teams from Wauseon swept an NWOAL tri-meet held at Archbold that also featured Liberty Center Tuesday evening.

They won the boys contest by defeating Liberty Center and then Archbold by a final of 69-58-47. In the girls meet, the Indians finished just ahead of the Blue Streaks while the Tigers came in third, 70-67-34.

Austin Bachman paced the Wauseon boys as he won both the high jump and long jump. He was also runner-up in the 100 meter dash, and runner-up in the 200m to teammate Mason Creager.

Other individual winners for Wauseon were Caleb Blanchong in the 800m and Kyle Vernot in the 3200m.

For Archbold, Jack Fisher won the 400m while Isaiah Esquibel was victorious in the pole vault.

The Indians were led in the girls meet by Halen Mealer who took home titles in both the 100m and 300m hurdles. Also winning for Wauseon were Avery Giguere (3200m), Amy Bosell (high jump), Kallie Strauss (shot put) and Miriam Triana (discus).

Archbold’s Emily Roth won both the 200m and the long jump.
