Returning experience bodes well for Blue Streak tennis

Archbold boys tennis looks to put last year’s 5-10 season behind them as they have many letter winners returning who should provide experience to the roster.

“I expect our team to do quite well this year,” said head coach James Kidder. “Returning experience this year is great and I anticipate having some strong contributions from the new players.”

Coach Kidder is also positive about his team for years to come.

“Lots of experience in the returning letter winners,” he said, when talking about his squad’s strengths. “And we don’t have any seniors this year so that will help us even more next year.”

Returning for the Blue Streaks are Jereme Rupp, Alex Short, Lucas Rupp, Michael Short, and Ozzie Juarez. The only letter winners lost were Jesse Felix who graduated, and Levi Strawn who is serving as an exchange student this year and will be back with the team in 2017.

Newcomers added to the team are Luke McQuade, Richard Payne, Josh Kidder, Reese Knapp, Erik Short, and Joshua Croy.

As for his league outlook, coach Kidder thinks his team has a chance at doing “very well” in matches against both Bryan and Wauseon.
