Evergreen started fast and got even faster, using two first quarter runs to dispose of Liberty Center, 63-36, to keep the Vikings unbeaten in the NWOAL at 4-0 and 9-1 overall.

Rachael Noe’s triple 30 seconds into the game started the first Viking run, and she added on a short time later.

After Kaela Fauble’s fastbreak bucket at the 6:16 mark, the 5’4” senior guard exploded for seven points in a 33 second span to put Evergreen up 12-2 with 4:19 left in the first.

Emma Babcock’s wing jumper and Sydni Altman’s free throw clawed LC back within 12-5 before Viking coach John Langenderfer threw the Vikings game-changing press at the Tigers.

He only used it for 55 seconds but during that time Eden Eisel scored eight straight points on a trio of free throws, a fastbreak hoop from Haili Mossing after a steal and a left handed drive that turned into a three-point play off another turnover.

Rachael Noe capped an 11-0 burst with another three-point play after Hannah Herr’s steal to give Evergreen a 23-5 lead.

Evergreen extended their advantage in the second thanks to seven straight points from Mossing, Herr’s long three pointer and Alyssa Noe’s three point play to blow the game open by half at 41-15.

“We played pretty well in the first half and did what we needed to do to get a win,” said Langenderfer. “Liberty played really hard and they play a lot of younger kids. I guess that’s the difference between starting four sophomores and four seniors.”

Evergreen continued to extend their lead in the third, reaching the biggest spread at 53-18 on Becca Jankowiak’s three pointer with 2:27 left in the frame.

From their Langenderfer had a revolving door from the bench to the court for the rest of the night.

Rachael Noe’s 17 and Mossing’s 16 led Viking scorers. Eisel came up just shy of a triple double and an even more rare, quadruple double with 11 points nine rebounds, nine assists and eight steals.

After heading on the road tonight at Adrian, the Vikings step back into NWOAL play by hosting Swanton on Thursday.
