The Pettisville boys basketball team has their sights set on another BBC crown.

Pettisville boys basketball, despite changes to their roster, hopes to repeat as Buckeye Border Conference champions in 2015-16. They were co-champions a season ago, sharing the honor with Stryker.

“The Buckeye Border Conference will again be a tight race,” said Pettisville coach Greg Nofziger of the conference.

Returning for the Blackbirds to help them on their quest for a title are Stuart Yoder, Caleb Rychener, Evan King, Justin Nofziger, Gabe Beck, and Matt Krill.

“We will rely on our quickness and speed on the offensive and defensive end of the floor, controlling tempo on both sides of the ball,” said Nofziger.

However, the Birds must replace the production left behind by four departing letter winners, all of whom received all-conference recognition last season.

They accounted for 60 percent of the team’s scoring according to Nofziger.

Gone for Pettisville are Noah Miller (second team All-BBC), Tate Kauffman (first team All-BBC, honorable mention all-district), Josh Liechty (first team All-BBC, honorable mention all-district) and Eli King (honorable mention All-BBC, all-district).

Pettisville will begin the season at Edon on Thursday.
