LIBERTY CENTER – Swanton wrestling won the day at a Northwest Ohio Athletic League quad featuring three county teams held at Liberty Center Thursday.

The Bulldogs picked up a pair of wins, defeating Delta 54-27 and Evergreen 66-0. Delta earned a 45-30 win over Liberty Center to make them 1-1 at the quad, while Evergreen finished 0-2.

Against Delta, Swanton opened up a 30-0 lead and did not look back.

Earning pins against the Panthers were Zach Schaller at 120 pounds, Dylan Cook (132), Gage Pachlhofer (145), Ryan Marvin (160), Zack Leahey (170) and Connor Cass (182). The Dogs had three victories come by way of forfeit.

Delta’s wins were a pin from Zack Mattin at 106 pounds, Gabe Meyer by pin at 113 pounds, Cole Mattin’s 7-2 decision over Swanton’s Trevor Schaller at 126 pounds, and a pin for Dylan Rogers against Crew Oberheim at 195 pounds. They also got a win through forfeit for Dalton Richard (220).

The Panthers tallied a total of six pins to help them earn the win over the Tigers in their second match. Winning by fall were both of the Mattin brothers, Dawson Swicegood at 145 pounds, JD Osborn (170), Tony Lopez (220) and Richard (285).

Also victorious were Jayce Helminiak of Delta with a 9-6 decision at 120 pounds, and Rogers by forfeit at 195 pounds.

Swanton had nine wins by forfeit against Evergreen. There was also a double void at 220 pounds.

In the matches that did take place, Saunders (138) pinned Travis Mersing of Evergreen, Pachlhofer (145) pinned Evergreen’s Tony Boger, Chase Moore (152) pinned Evergreen’s Corey Patterson, and Marvin (160) earned a 12-4 major decision against Brian Floyd of Evergreen.

The Vikings fell to Liberty Center 69-6 in their first match. Evergreen’s lone win came from Floyd who pinned Dakoda Woods in the 160-pound match.

Blue Streaks win two

Archbold swept a home NWOAL quad Thursday featuring Bryan, Montpelier and Patrick Henry. The Blue Streaks defeated Montpelier 54-16 in their first match, then took down Patrick Henry 66-6.

Earning pins for the Streaks against the Locomotives were Shane Eicher at 113 pounds, Andrew Francis (120), Zach Rocha (138), Brennan Short (145), Gavin Grime (152), Kasyn Schaffner (170), Trevor Short (220) and Anthony Gonzalez (285).

Mason Babcock won by forfeit at 195 pounds. There was a double forfeit at 106 pounds.

Winning by pin for Archbold against Patrick Henry were Eicher (113), Juan Garcia (126), Brennan Short (145), Grime (152) and Trevor Short (220).

The Streaks added five wins by way of forfeit. Once again, there was a double forfeit at 106 pounds.
