District 7 volleyball teams announced

The volleyball awards for District 7 were announced recently as many area athletes received recognition.

Wauseon had three named first team District 7 in Division II. Getting that honor were Lexi Sauber, who was also the player of the year; Maddi Trejo; and Karli Penrod.

Wauseon coach Bill Blanchong was the coach of the year in Division II.

Honorable mention District 7 for the Indians were Chloe Lane, Jen Sanders, Maddy Martinez and Reagan Spadafore.

In Division III, Swanton’s Cydney Christensen, Julia Smith and Sidney Taylor each made first team District 7. Second team District 7 were Kinsey Finnen of Delta and Macey Rupp of Archbold.

Honorable mention in District 7 were Abby Arnold of Swanton, and Hannah Herr and Jamie VanLoocke of Evergreen.

Jess Youse and Morgan Leppelmeier of Pettisville were named first team District 7 in Division IV. Second team District 7 for the Blackbirds was Kyra Behnfeldt.

For Fayette, Bailee Smith was named honorable mention District 7.
