Archbold, Pettisville girls cross country teams place in top 6 at state meet

HEBRON – The Ohio High School Athletic Association cross country season ended Saturday with the state meet held at National Trail Raceway in Hebron. The best finishes in the area came in Division III, where the Archbold girls took fifth as a team and the Pettisville girls finished sixth.

The Blue Streaks finished with 183 points, while Pettisville had 191. Minster won the meet with a score of 34.

For Archbold, Kylie Sauder had the highest finish as she placed 32nd with a time of 19:51.4. Next were Dakota Stamm who took 40th (20:00.7), Gwynne Riley 49th (20:13.7), and Brittney Ramirez 79th (20:37.3).

Elizabeth Sauder had a really good day for Pettisville, placing seventh with a time of 19:11.1. Also for the Blackbirds, Nichole Foor placed 23rd (19:27.4), Kate Stuber 85th (20:43.5) and Kelly Miller 88th (20:44.6).

Sarah Schwan of Evergreen capped off her year by placing 24th (19:36.6).

In the Division II boys race, Kyle Vernot closed out his career at Wauseon with a top 20 finish. The senior placed 17th with a time of 16:18.1.

Maverick Wright of Delta also ended his high school career at state, finishing 36th (16:47.7) in the Division III boys competition. For the Pettisville boys, Max Leppelmeier placed 67th (17:05.8) and Logan Rufenacht 110th (17:37.4).
