Pettisville finished the regular season on a 12-game unbeaten streak as the Blackbirds turned away Delta 9-2 at home Thursday afternoon in boys soccer.

Detric Yoder led the Pettisville attack with four goals in the first half. He now has 30 goals on the season and took over the career goal lead at Pettisville with 52.

His first goal with 36:19 to play in the first half sparked the Blackbird offense. He added a second goal by staying onside and dumping in a goal with 31:33 left.

Jared Gilders broke away from the Pettisville defense to quickly answer for the Panthers, but just as quick as he scored, Pettisville came right back. Not two minutes later, Mitchell Avina chipped in a shot from the right side of the net to put the Birds in front 3-1.

Eli Grieser had a chance for a goal, but his shot from in front of the net was turned away. However, Yoder was in the right spot on the rebound for his third goal of the half.

The Blackbirds added two more first half goals in the final five minutes. Yoder wrapped up his four-goal game by heading in a corner kick from Connor Wyse with 4:58 to play before halftime. Wyse finished with 19 assists on the year and 53 for his career.

Grieser did get his goal when he beat the Delta keeper on a one-on-one with 1:26 before halftime for a 6-1 Pettisville lead.

Wyse added a second goal, along with Landon Roth and Preston Stevens, to finish the Pettisville scoring.

Pettisville (12-2-2) hosts Cardinal Stritch in a sectional semifinal today at 4:30 p.m. Delta (6-7-3) plays at Liberty Center beginning at 5 p.m.
