Busy fall in Wauseon

By Kathy Huner - Guest Column

Well the school busses are rolling and the apple trees are ready to be picked. It’s that time of the season again.

Fall is such a busy time of year. Some of the fall festivities in Wauseon is to visit the second largest fair in Ohio, the 158th Fulton County Fair. People will travel across the state and from other states to attend our fair. Grand Champion livestock, outstanding 4-H displays and Grandstand shows. Yummy pork, beef and dairy stands and to end the day with the “can’t leave without the Band donuts.” Don’t miss The Fulton County Fair which runs Sept. 4-10.

Biddle Park is busy with soccer games, flag and midget football. I would also like to wish all of our Wauseon Indians good luck this fall in their season of sports. Go Big Red!

September 26 is the Wauseon Chili Cook-Off in Downtown Wauseon. It has been a struggle trying to get the chili chefs to part with their favorite recipes but we are finally starting to get some registrations. We still have room for more chili participants! If you think you make a mean chili, then prove it! We would love to be the judge of your chili. Go to cityofwauseon.com and click on events for a registration form and information.

October will be the lucky month for the Linfoot Street project to begin. The exact date has not yet been confirmed but we are very excited to know that this project is only one month away from being started.

Have a safe and festive fall!
