An anonymous donor has provided funding for a $5,000 one-time scholarship for Wauseon High School graduates accepted and/or enrolled in a medical doctoral program.
David Fleming, school district treasurer, will pay the scholarship money directly to the recipient to be used for a portion of their college expenses. The recipient must present a paid or partially paid tuition bill for the first semester of the medical school.
Criteria for selection include: the person must be a Wauseon High School graduate; they must be accepted at and planning to attend a medical college or university to receive a medical doctorate degree; and they must submit a 250-word essay detailing their future goals.
Those previously awarded this specific scholarship may not apply again.
An application must be submitted by April 1, 2018. All applications will be evaluated, and a recipient chosen by a committee consisting of the WHS principal, guidance counselor, three other members appointed by the principal.
The award will be presented at the Wauseon Exempted Village School Scholarship Awards night in May.
