A man transporting railroad workers on the Ohio Turnpike was slightly injured Tuesday when a bullet shattered the vehicle’s windshield.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was dispatched to the turnpike near the Wauseon exit at 8:35 a.m. to a van pulled to the side of the road. The driver, whose name was not available, said the windshield shattered while he was enroute to Chicago with two CSX railroad employees. A small caliber bullet was found in the vehicle.
The driver was taken to the Fulton County Health Center and treated for minor injuries.
An Ohio Department of Natural Resources officer located a suspect on County Road 16 in Fulton County, who admitted to shooting at a red-tailed hawk at the time the vehicle’s windshield shattered. The officer conficated two firearms.
No other information was available. An ODNR investigation continues.
