HEAP assistance continues


The Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission continues to accept applications for the HEAP Summer Crisis program. Applications will be accepted thru Aug. 31.

The program offers assistance with electric bill payment, an air conditioner or fan, or with central air unit repair not to exceed the program’s maximum benefit amount.

To be eligible, the household must be within 175 percent of the federal poverty guidelines of a $43,050 annual income for a family of four, and must meet one of the following qualifications: a household member with a verified, documented medical condition that would benefit from electric service and/or air conditioning; a household member age 60 or older, no documentation necessary.

PIPP Plus customer are not eligible for assistance on the electric bill, but may still be eligible for an air conditioner or help with an central air unit repair.

Income for the past 90 days, electric and gas bill, social security cards for everyone in the household, and disability proof, if applicable, are required for every appointment.
