A Wauseon Boy Scout is seeking donations of children’s books as he works on his Eagle Scout project. Justin Freestone, of Troop 8 in Wauseon, plans to send the books he collects to the Appalachian Outreach Organization in West Virginia.

These books will be put inside a baby basket and given to a family who needs them. I hope to spark an interest in reading and learning within the children.

There will be donation boxes located at Ace Hardware, Wauseon Public Library, Delta Public Library, Saint Caspar’s Church, First Christian Church of Wauseon, and Christ United Methodist of Wauseon until Aug. 13.

“I chose to base my project on books because books have always inspired me with tales of greatness and have expanded my imagination,” said Freestone. “I want to pass on the treasure that I have found with reading throughout the lives of many other children with this project.

Those who would prefer to make a monetary donation can contact Freestone at freestonem16@yahoo.com.
