One dead, one injured following accident in Royalton Twp.

Staff report

One person is dead and another seriously injured following a two-vehicle accident Wednesday in Royalton Township.

The Toledo post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Raymond Jacobsen, 68, of Worth, Ill., was northbound on State Route 109 at approximately 2:30 p.m. when it failed to yield the right of way and was struck in the passenger side by a 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck westbound on U.S. 20 and driven by Christopher Kime, 39, of Delta.

A passenger in Jacobsen’s vehicle sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger’s identity is not being released pending notification of next of kin.

Kime had no injuries. Jacobsen was transported by air ambulance to the University of Toledo Medical Center with serious injuries.

All parties used safety belts, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Life Flight, and Fulton County EMS.
