Evergreen Board approves new synthetic turf

Staff Report

Evergreen Local Schools officials hope to have a new synthetic turf sports field in place before the fall season begins. On Monday, the Board of Education entered into a contract with Maumee Bay Turf Center for the purpose of installing a recreational synthetic multi-purpose athletic field at a cost not to exceed $689,550.

The board had also considered the installation of a separate natural turf soccer field and irrigation system for both the soccer and existing football field at a cost not to exceed $690,000.

Superintendent Jim Wyse said the synthetic field has a tentative completion date of Aug. 1. It could be used for soccer and other activities in addition to football.
