One person is dead following a fatal crash in York Township Wednesday morning. The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal crash on State Route 109 at County Road D at approximately 7:29 a.m.
According to the Highway Patrol, a red Dodge Caravan driven by Jamie Cook of Bloomdale, Ohio, 31, was eastbound on County Road D. A light blue Subaru Impreza driven by Carol Barringer of Delta, 57, was northbound on State Route 109.
Cook failed to yield to the right of way, and struck the Subaru, according to the Highway Patrol. Both vehicles went off the northeast side of the road and the Subaru rolled over striking a fire hydrant before coming to rest on its side.
Both drivers were transported by ground ambulance to the Fulton County Health Center. Barringer was pronounced deceased at 8:23 a.m. at the hospital.
Cook was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Safety belts were in use at the time of the crash, and alcohol is not a factor in the crash. No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Delta Police Department, Delta Fire Department and Wauseon Fire Department.
