Staff Report

Swanton’s quiz team competed at the Ohio Academic Competition State Championships on Saturday. Although they lost all five matches at state, they had a very successful season that included a trip to the national tournament in Illinois.

Beavercreak won the state championship.

Swanton finished as regional runners-up in the Northwest Regional to advance to state.

At the regional tournament, they started with a win over Riverdale. They then lost to Bowling Green to fall to the consolation bracket.

In the consolation bracket they stormed all the way back to the final. They beat Tiffin, Mohawk, and Van Wert to set up a showdown with Ada to advance to the regional final.

Swanton won and clinched a spot at the state tournament. They were defeated by Findlay in the final.

“Last year we had our most successful season,” said advisor Josh Eppert. “This year, we topped that.”
