Man suffers knife wound at campground

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office continues investigating an incident at Sunny’s Campground in Wauseon early Sunday that left a Michigan man critically injured.

According to Sheriff Roy Miller, an EMS crew was called to the campground at 12399 County Road 13 at 12:59 a.m. to treat a bleeding subject. The crew found Christopher Kelly, 29, of Grass Lake, Mich., with a lacerated throat at a campsite. He was transported by air ambulance to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, where he was listed Monday in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

Witnesses told deputies that Kelly had an argument at the campground with another man Miller did not identify. The men took the argument away from the area, then returned with the issue seemingly resolved.

Later, another subject returned to the campsite, and reported that Kelly was found alone and bleeding from the throat wound. No one witnessed what occurred.

Miller said alcohol played a role in the incident. The campsite was processed by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification. The agency has not issued a report.

The Wauseon Police Department assisted the sheriff’s office at the campground.
