One person is dead and another injured following a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning in Amboy Township.
The Toledo post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that a small passenger vehicle was traveling southbound on County Road 1 at approximately 3 a.m. when it failed to stop at a stop sign at U.S. 20 and was struck by a semi tractor with a flatbed trailer hauling steel coils. Both vehicles went off the southeast edge of the road, where they struck an electrical pole and were engulfed in flames.
The driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Names of the drivers are being withheld pending identification.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Lucas County and Fulton County sheriffs’ offices and the Amboy and Richfield township fire departments. An investigation continues.
