Woman sentenced for theft from Swanton American Legion


A Swanton woman was sentenced on April 25 in the Fulton County Common Pleas Court according to county prosecutor Scott A. Haselman.

Rita Thie, 61, previously pleaded guilty to grand theft and theft. From March 4, 2015 to Nov. 30, 2015 she stole cash from the Swanton American Legion, and on Nov. 25, 2015, she stole cash from Advance America.

Judge Jeffrey L. Robinson sentenced Thie to 4 years of community control and ordered her to complete the theft education course, serve 1 day in CCNO within 30 days and to pay restitution.

Failure to comply could result in Thie spending 12 months in prison for grand theft and 6 months in prison for theft with the sentences to be served concurrently for a total prison term of 12 months.
