A Fulton County man is wanted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol after leading troopers and three other law enforcement agencies on a chase Sunday that began in Lucas County.
According to OSHP Sgt. Jason Metzger, the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office notified the OSHP that its deputies had lost sight of a vehicle that narrowly missed striking another about 7 a.m. at the intersection of Airport Highway and Eber Road. A trooper spotted the vehicle at County Road K and County Road 1 in Fulton County about 10 minutes later.
The trooper chased the vehicle into the Village of Delta, where it circled the village a couple of times and avoided spike sticks authorities placed in the road to disable its tires. The driver abandoned the vehicle on County Road 7-2 and fled the area.
Metzger said the alleged suspect is known to authorities and has a previous criminal record. His name is being withheld until a positive identification can be made. Metzger said Fulton County deputies tracked him to a residence he is known to frequent but he was not there.
He said the OSHP, the county sheriff’s office, and the Wauseon and Delta police departments, all of whom participated in the chase, are reviewing patrol car videos in an effort to positively identify the suspect.
If found, he will be charged with felony fleeing and obstruction, Metzger said.
