Open House at J & B Feed Company

Staff report

J & B Feed Company in Wauseon will celebrate its 50-year anniversary with an open house on Friday, March 17, at 140 S. Brunell St.

The event will include a celebration of the 50-year employment of B. Neuenschwander, one of the company’s original founders. He is a lifelong Wauseon-area resident and a 1959 graduate of Wauseon High School.

J & B Feed Company was formed in March 1967, when Jake Hess, former owner of Hess Hatchery on Shoop Avenue, and Neuenschwander, who had worked at Hanson’s Feed Mill on Hickory Street, took over the George Brothers Feed Mill. The company still uses the feed mill which was originally a flour mill in the 1860s. The white block store and offices were built in 1980.

The public is welcome to attend.
