A Delta house went up in flames Jan. 23, leaving seven people homeless.
The Delta Community Fire Department was dispatched to 810 Linwood St. at 7:59 p.m. after receiving several calls from citizens.
Fire Chief Scott Smith said the house was heavy with smoke in the kitchen, where the fire appeared to have started, and in the attic. Firefighters had the fire under control in about 50 minutes but remained on the scene for three hours. No injuries were reported.
None of the four adults or three children living in the home were present when the fire began. The house is owned by Cynthia Garcia, according to the Fulton County Auditor’s office.
Smith said no cause for the blaze has been determined but it did not appear suspicious in nature. No damage estimate was available, but the house sustained heavy structural damage.
Delta firefighters were assisted by fire crews from Swanton and Wauseon. An investigation continues.
