WPD to host Citizens Police Academy


Eight week course starts in September

The Wauseon Police Department will once again conduct a Citizens’ Police Academy. The classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. The classes will meet from Sept. 17 to Nov. 12 at the Municipal Building. There is no charge for the CPA.

The CPA is an informative learning process that provides an opportunity for citizens to receive eight weeks of both classroom and field instruction regarding the various responsibilities facing current law enforcement officers. CPA attendees are also made aware of the procedures and techniques used by officers in a variety of scenarios, together with the rationale and justification in support of those procedures or techniques.

Class size is limited to no more than 24 attendees.

Below is the list of requirements to qualify a candidate:

• Must be at least 21 years of age

• Must provide the information necessary far a criminal background check

• Must work or live in the Wauseon/Fulton County area

• Must be able to commit to attending all classes.
