Local residents earn honors, scholarships


Olivet Nazarene University

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Olivet congratulates all students named to the Dean’s Llist during the spring 2015 semester. Area students who achieved this honor are Tyson Lersch and Lyndsey Rupp of Archbold; Morgan Judson of Swanton and Sarah Aeschliman and Chandler Tuckerman of Wauseon.

Bowling Green State University

BOWLING GREEN – Over 180 awards and scholarships were issued by Bowling Green State University’s College of Education and Human Development this spring.

The largest award, the Robert and Wrey Barber Scholarship in the amount of $8,750, went to Alexandria Seimetz, a freshman from North Lawrence. Sophomore Joshua Scott of Port Clinton received two awards totaling $4,075, and Amanda Hunter of Waynesville was the recipient of the Bailey Family Foundation Scholarship in the amount of $5,000.

Locally, the Don and Frederica Scholarship in the amount of $1,800 was awarded to Megan Stannard, a sophomore studying middle school education specializing in science and language arts. She is the daughter of Eric Stannard and Martha Luke of Fayette and a 2013 graduate of Fayette Local High School. She has been honored on the BGSU’s Dean’s List twice.

Tammie Boyd of Swanton, a senior majoring in early childhood education, was awarded the Florence M. Grine Scholarship in the amount of $2,000. Tammie, the wife of Robert L. Boyd, attended the University of Toledo and received her bachelor of business in 2001. She has been named to the Dean’s List.

Emily Eicher, a sophomore majoring in inclusive early childhood education, was awarded the Dwight and Marlene Short Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Emily is a 2013 Pettisville High School graduate and is the daughter of Curt and Elaine Eicher of Wauseon. Emily is a member of Relay for Life, Dance Marathon, BG Waterski Team and is an officer for the Early Childhood Organization.
