One person was killed and eight others injured in a two-vehicle accident Aug. 11 on State Highway 108 at County Road J in Dover Township.
According to the Toledo post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 2009 Ford Fusion driven by Brenda Depinet, 37, of Fayette, was westbound on County Road J at State Highway 108 at approximately 2:30 p.m. when she failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and was struck on the passenger side by a southbound 2015 Chevrolet Silverado on State Highway 108 driven by Rollin Britsch, 67, of Archbold. Depinet’s vehicle went off the left side of the road and struck a utility pole. Britsch’s vehicle came to rest in the southbound lane of State Highway 108.
A passenger in Depinet’s vehicle, James Depinet, 67, of Fayette, was pronounced dead at the scene. Brenda Depinet and two other passengers, a 12-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy, were seriously injured and transported by Life Flight to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.
Britsch also received serious injuries and was taken by EMS to the Fulton County Health Center. Two passengers in his vehicle, Lonna Britsch, 68, and Sarah Nafziger, 35, both of Archbold, received minor injuries and were also transported to the Fulton County Health Center. Two juvenile females, ages 12 and nine, also received minor injuries.
All of the passengers were wearing seat belts and the four-year-old was secured in a child booster seat. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and towed from the scene.
Troopers were also assisted at the scene by the Wauseon Fire Department, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Childress Collision, and the Ohio Department of Transportation,
An investigation continues.
